movie themed room any ideas?
I was wondering if you had any ideas..Im moving to a new condo and basically I have a nice good sized empty room. I want to make a movie theatre theme because i bought a nice HD projector to project a big 90 inch screen on one of my walls. I need to paint furnish and decorate the place with hopefully a movies theme..even the top half of the walls are white can be painted with designs, posters, lighting ext… any ideas would be great! I also am making a red tube light with corwn moulding in front of it to make a nice deep red glow around the whole room

Notice the dimmable can lights and the curtains framing the screen. Those could be functional so they could cover the screen for a board game night. Also they would help to keep dust off the screen.

Again the curtains around the screen and the can lights. But also notice the raised platform on the second row of seating. Very nice. Also, the poster on the left, but only one or two for effect.

Many of the same features but also a bar in the back corner for easy access to refreshments.
Another idea would be to just visit some theaters and make note of small details that you see and like. See if you can integrate them into your design.
IMO Home theaters should have very comfortable furniture, dark, rich colors, dimmable overhead light, LED accent lighting near the floor, surround sound (DUH).
The lighting system should allow from very well lit conditions to a total blackout. A theater room is all about the “mood”. The mood should be comfortable and relaxing. Avoid overabundance of bright colors such as white, yellow, etc. Use these colors but use them sparingly. Although that is just my opinion. Here is a nice theater room using many light colors.
